Volunteers provide emotional support for people in the final stages of life, and for the loved ones involved. Do you feel like you are prepared for this type of volunteering, please explain.
Our clients come from diverse ethnicities, sexual orientation, cultural beliefs etc. What are your feelings towards supporting individuals that are different from you?
Volunteer Roles:
Our volunteers work in a variety of roles that are designated as Direct Care and/or Indirect Care. Please indicate which areas of volunteering interest you.
Volunteers working directly with clients/families. (ie: Vigil support, 1:1 grief support, hospital visiting team)
Volunteers who support Hospice without working directly with clients/families. (ie: fundraising, community awareness, special events)
Volunteers who would like to be involved in various aspects of hospice, or as their time permits
Complete the online volunteer application and submit
Complete a Criminal Records Check through the Province of British Columbia. (We will provide a link and security code for the online application.)
Participate in a screening interview with two hospice facilitators
Once you've been accepted for the training, there is a fee of $120, which is due before the first session of the course, which covers facilitators fees and a volunteer handbook.
I submit the above information as true and I agree to complete the BC Ministry of Justice record check.
